Offensive Line A-

The offensive line was touted as being a better group this year and through one game we would have to agree. They opened holes for the running backs all game long. There were very few plays in which the Wolverines lost yardage last night.

After the first possession where Joe Milton was sacked on third down with just three guys rushing, the line gave him plenty of time to find open receivers or step up and scramble.

The biggest hole was the first run for Zach Charbonnet as he ran through a huge hole to go untouched for a 70 yard touchdown that tied the game early. They also kept the defense away from Hassan Haskins and allowed him to break a 66 yard run that got the Wolverines out of deep in their own end after a huge fourth down stop.

For one game the offensive line looked great, but we still need to see them do this against the really good defenses. The Gophers weren’t bad, but they aren’t on the level of Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

It is a great first game and one that they can definitely build on. They did everything they needed to do in this first game and the running backs have to be extremely happy about it.
