Michigan football is going to get a visit from 2021 cornerback Ceyair Wright next month and here’s a look at what it means for his recruitment.

As far as Michigan football is concerned, there is still some work to do in its 2021 recruiting class and one of the positions that needs another body or two is cornerback.

Right now, as we have talked about many times before, Ja’Den McBurrowns of Florida is Michigan’s only pledge there. McBurrows is a three-star prospect, who actually got a ratings bump from 247 sports but one simply isn’t going to be enough.

Thankfully, the Wolverines have a couple of other irons in the fire and one of them just got a little hotter as it was reported by 247 sports ($) that four-star cornerback Ceyair Wright plans on taking a self-guided visit to Ann Arbor next month.

Obviously, visits can be a big deal in recruiting and during this dead period, when official visits can’t take place, these dead-period visits can be even more important.

Think about this, Wright is going to be traveling to check out Michigan football on his own dime and he will also be visiting at the same time as Domani Jackson, J.J. McCarthy and a number of other Michigan recruits/commits according to EJ Holland of Rivals ($).

Things have been trending in the wrong direction with Wright as crystal ball projections and Futurecast picks from Rivals has been predicting him to USC, even Holland did so.

But Wright has always had an interest in Michigan and plays in the same program as former Wolverine David Long. U-M also has a need at cornerback and at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, the No. 75 overall prospect in the 247 composite rankings would do nicely.

We’ll see what happens, but this visit, definitely means Michigan is still in it.

Latest on Omarion Cooper

The other top target at cornerback right now in the 2021 class for the Wolverines is four-star Omarion Cooper who is committed to Florida State.

Michigan has been pushing to flip Cooper for a while now and they haven’t stopped recruiting him since he pledged to the Seminoles over the summer, in what seemed like a quick decision.

And when the Wolverines were able to flip Branden Jennings from Florida State, there was some thought that Cooper would follow. Only it hasn’t happened yet and according to Holland ($), South Carolina is now jumping in the mix too.

Hot. Why Wolverines will win, why they might not. light

Michigan is still right there, it just seems like there will be more competition to flip Cooper and who knows, maybe he will wind up sticking with Florida State.
