The Michigan football team will finally get on the field when they travel to Minnesota. What do they need to do to come out with a win?

Michigan football is back. The Wolverines are set to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Minneapolis to open up their season. It will be the first time in three years that these two teams meet to battle for the Little Brown Jug.

The Wolverines won the game in 2017 easily 33-10 in PJ Fleck’s first season at Minnesota. It was the second win a row for Michigan in a series they lead 75-25-3 all-time.

But this year will look a lot different. Nevermind the fact that this is their first game coming just one week before Halloween, but it also comes with the Golden Gophers looking to build off a fantastic 2019 season in which they upset both Penn State and Auburn.

Will the Gophers be able to use 2020 as an encore or will they come back down to earth? They do return star quarterback Tanner Morgan and wide receiver Rashod Bateman who opted back into the season. They will be one of the best duos in the Big Ten this year.

Michigan football, on the other hand will be ushering in a new quarterback this year and the first one that didn’t come the way of transfer during Harbaugh’s time in Ann Arbor.

Joe Milton looks to be the guy that will lead the Wolverines offense onto the field and there has been nothing but good reports coming out of camp about him.

With a start and stop type of offseason, it will be interesting to see how each team reacts. What we do know is that it should be a great game in primetime.

Minnesota will look to show they belong while the Wolverines will look to get a big road win to start the season. Both teams have high hopes for this year and winning this game will go a long way into reaching those goals.

But before we get to the game, we take a look at three keys for the Wolverines to come out of Minnesota with a win.
