Jaydon Hood reacts to Branden Jennings

While Michigan football fans are right to be stoked at flipping Jennings, a top-100 recruit and one of the best linebackers in the country, this late in the process, it could cause some reason for concern with four-star linebacker Jaydon Hood, who committed in May.

Now, it sounds like Michigan views Jennings as the weak-side backer in their system and Hood would be more of the middle. Here’s what Holland ($) said about his addition:

"“Jennings should slide right into that WILL spot that Phinney projected to play. Jennings is more physical, a better athlete and better in pass coverage. There is really no comparison here. It was addition by subtraction with Phinney’s decommitment. What a late win by the Wolverines. Absolutely fantastic.”"

So think Devin Bush Jr. (Mike) and Josh Ross (Will). So I don’t think there needs to be any worry about them both being projected as inside backers at U-M. And in a positive sign, Hood took to Twitter Saturday to welcome to new commit to the Michigan family.

That doesn’t seem at all like someone thinking about decommitting. Yet, the fact is that Miami has been recruiting him hard, ever since he chose the Wolverines over the Hurricanes and now that Miami missed on Jennings (they were in his final 3) you can expect that to continue.

Hood also didn’t visit Michigan before committing. But he seems to have a great relationship with the staff and fellow linebacker Junior Colson. Plus, the trio of Hood, Colson and Jennings is downright scary.

With two playing inside and Colson out at Viper, that could be a lot of fun to watch, so hopefully, the coaching staff can keep the commitment of Hood solid. So far, so good.
