Breaking down a big week in Michigan Football recruiting
There is real concern with Benny
Benny is expected to make his decision is a week, but when he did an interview with Austin Fox of Rivals Friday night ($), he said he was torn on his decision. Fox also wrote this:
"“We asked him about his recruitment and his impending Oct. 25 commitment date after the game, and he said he thought he knew where he was going to commit to, but is now having second thoughts.”"
If you believe all the crystall ball projections and the Futurecast picks, then you would think that Michigan was going to be the decision. The Wolverines were the first program to recruit him as a defensive tackle and they seemed to have the most momentum, as well as the best relationship.
However, there is no doubt that Michigan State is making a push. The Spartans are selling Benny on a number of different things, but basically it comes down to being the guy in their 2021 class.
So my guess is that he’s torn between Michigan and MSU, which isn’t what Wolverine fans are wanting to hear this close to a decision.
He would be a huge get for MSU and losing Benny to the Spartans would be a devastating blow for Michigan’s class. For one, it needs a defensive tackle and can’t afford an in-state loss.
Push come to shove, you still have to like Michigan’s chances and Fox also told a story of Benny being really interested in a pair of Michigan gloves an opponent was wearing, but this recruitment is much more 50-50 than it seemed not long ago.
