3 Thoughts on Michigan Football landing 4-star LB Branden Jennings
Jennings commitment could lead to another flip
While Jennings commitment to Michigan football is a huge deal for the Wolverines, it could be the start of something bigger as another flip could be coming.
There are a few candidates Michigan could be trying to flip, as I laid out recently and even though Jennings wasn’t on the list four-star cornerback Omarion Cooper did make that list because U-M has been coming at him hard in recent weeks.
This is in part because the Wolverines don’t have many other options at cornerback. But now that Jennings is in the fold, Cooper could follow.
EJ Holland of Rivals ($) reported Thursday that getting Jennings would help with the recruitment of Cooper. He also said he now believed the Wolverines would be able to flip him.
"“As I mentioned, Rivals does not allow reporters to put in flip picks, but if I could I would. I have strong reason to believe that Michigan has put itself in a position to steal Cooper from the Seminoles.”"
It’s also worth nothing that this is Michigan’s third commitment in the 2021 cycle in the state of Florida, depsite a recent national writer citing a source saying the Wolverines were getting all their players from Massachusetts.
Yes, Michigan does get players from the Northeast and usually has its pick. But there are players coming from all over the country.
The Wolverines have now gotten recruits this cycle from Florida, Texas, Illinois, California and Arizona, as well as Michigan and Massachusetts. That’s why I don’t trust “national” people on most topics, because they generally never have anything more than a basic idea of things.
Michigan football recruiting is in a solid place and now, the attention turns to Rayshaun Benny, who will decide Oct. 25.
