Michigan Basketball: 6 prospects Wolverines are targeting in 2022
By Max S.
Ty Rodgers
School: Grand Blanc Community
Ranking: 49th overall (4-star)
Ty Rodgers is a 6’5 small forward from Grand Blanc, MI. He ranks as the 3rd best 2022 in-state recruit only behind Emoni Bates and Dillon Hunter.
Rodgers is a very old fashion and typical small forward. He’s not going to wow you with his athleticism but he just makes plays. He’s also a very good shooter and has good range.
Rodgers has kept a pretty quiet recruitment and at this point, it’s hard to tell if Michigan State or Michigan are going to keep him in the state. Syracuse, Ohio State, Maryland, and others are recruiting him and would love to snag him away from both the Wolverines and Spartans.
Michigan offered Rodgers earlier this summer but other than that, there isn’t too much tying them together. As of now, his recruitment is completely up in the air.
Predictions
I think that Jett Howard and Dug McDaniel are almost locks to be apart of this Michigan basketball 2022 class. Michigan is also sitting very well with Colin Smith and I have a feeling they lead for him too.
I have a gut feeling that Jarace Walker will become more of a longshot as his recruitment plays out and I don’t see Michigan landing him in the long-run. Same goes for Ty Rodgers. For being an in-state recruit, you just don’t hear much buzz for him going to Michigan. He has kept a quiet recruitment so far so I don’t have a great feel for him yet.
If Juwan Howard is in fact able to land Jett Howard, Dug McDaniel and Colin Smith like I think he will, that is the start of a very talented and special class for Michigan basketball. Juwan Howard would then be able to fill any additional available spots with transfers or the best available in the 2022 class.
Juwan Howard has made Michigan basketball recruiting extremely interesting since he was hired. So buckle in for another wild ride as we start to cover the 2022 class.
