Jarace Walker

School: IMG Academy

Ranking: 9th overall (5-star)

Yes, you guessed it. Another player from IMG Academy. Jarace Walker is the highest ranked prospect in this article and for good reason. I watched a lot of tape on Walker and it’s hard to find a weakness in his game.

He checks all the boxers from a physical standpoint. He already has a college ready body similar to his teammate Eric Dailey. But his game on the court is so impressive too.

His size and athleticism stand out when you watch him, but his court vision and passing really impressed me. For a player of his size, he does a really nice job of getting his teammates involved and making the correct passes.

Former Michigan basketball player Anthony Wright called Jarace Walker one of the most athletic prospects he’s ever seen in the 10th grade. You can find his full breakdown here.

Back in June in an interview with Travis Branham of 247Sports, Walker talked about his relationship with coach Howard and listed Michigan as one of the three schools recruiting him the hardest.

"“He said he’s looking forward to continuing recruiting me,” Walker said about his talk with Howard. “He doesn’t want to bomb me with questions and all of that because he knows all the phone calls I’ve been getting so he just said that we will keep in touch and that he will continue to recruit me along the process.”"

It’s hard to know exactly how good of a chance Michigan has here. Obviously there is mutual interest, but as his recruitment continues to play out, more schools will get involved and make a push.

Michigan may also run into a situation where they don’t have room for another wing. As of right now, I’d say Michigan is in a better spot with Jett Howard, Eric Dailey, and Collin Smith. If Michigan is able to somehow land those three guys, I can’t imagine them taking another wing in the class even if that guy is a five-star.
