Indiana commit Maurice Freeman

Earlier this week, a 2021 recruit and three-star safety Maurice Freeman reported an offer from Michigan football on his Twitter account.

Freeman committed to Big Ten rival Indiana in August and even though he’s ranked outside the top 1,000 of the 247 sports composite rankings, there is plenty to like about his game.

He can play linebacker and safety and has even played some in the nickel as a corner which gives him plenty of versatility. He’s a sure tackler and since the Wolverines missed out on Daymon David, he’s a natural replacement on the board, especially with his tackling ability.

It looks like Freeman has genuine interest in the Wolverines and he’s from Virginia, which should make distance less of a factor, unlike with Cooper.

Another thing that should give Michigan football a shot is that Freeman didn’t visit Indiana before his commitment to the Hoosiers. So the Wolverines are on even footing and no disrespect to IU, but a Michigan offer will generally hold more weight, meaning U-M has a good shot to flip Freeman.
