No. 4 One-handed miracle INT at Michigan State

If you had to pick out the most incredible play of Woodson’s three-year career with the Wolverines it would likely be his one-handed interception in East Lansing.

Sure, there would other plays of more consequence, such as the plays he would make later in 1997 in the Rose Bowl and against Ohio State, but if there was one play that launched his Heisman campaign, it was this toe-tapping, one-handed pick against the Spartans.

Both teams were ranked that day as fifth-ranked Michigan traveled to 14th-ranked Michigan State and it ended up being no contest as the Wolverines won going away 23-7.

Woodson’s interception captured the attention of college football fans everywhere and catapulted him into the Heisman conversation. He would finish with two picks on the day, wrapping up another marquee win for the Wolverines and forever cementing his place in the Heisman race.
