Believe it or not, Wednesday is Charles Woodson’s 44th birthday and in honor of that, here are his five top five performances with Michigan football.

It’s hard to believe that Charles Woodson, the greatest Michigan football player of all time, is 44 years old.

It seems like just yesterday when he was a freshman back in 1995. I was nine years old back then and the kid from Fremont, Ohio was unlike any Wolverine I had ever seen.

Woodson wasn’t just a great player — his confidence, his attitude and his swagger brought something different to Michigan football and it always showed up against the Buckeyes, who, for the record, Charles helped the Wolverines beat three times, without any losses.

To be honest, Woodson would be considered an all-time great just based on what he did against the Buckeyes, but the fact that he led the Wolverines to the national championship in 1997, while also becoming the only defensive player to ever win the Heisman trophy makes him one of a kind.

However, Woodson’s career with Michigan football was about more than just that one season. Not only did he win the Heisman, he was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 1997, as well as a two-time First-Team All-American and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1995.

Woodson is also in the College Football Hall of Fame. And since it’s his birthday, what better way to celebrate the modern G.O.A.T of Michigan football by reliving his top five games as a Wolverine.
