Michigan Football: 5 Questions Wolverines must answer in 2020
Can Michigan beat Ohio State?
Since the day Jim Harbaugh was hired as Michigan football coach, this has been the big question: Can he beat Ohio State?
So far, in five tries, it hasn’t happened and only one of those games, the 2016 version, was decided by single digits. The past two years, it has gotten ugly and it seems many Michigan football fans are wondering if the Wolverines will ever beat their rivals again?
Some day it will happen. I mean it has to right? The Wolverines, despite their shortcoming against Ohio State, have beaten every other top program in the Big Ten, plus Harbaugh has beaten Notre Dame and Florida, so this program isn’t chop liver.
Yet, Ohio State was darn good in the John Cooper era. In fact, those Buckeyes teams were some of the mos talented OSU has ever had. But Cooper couldn’t conquer Michigan and eventually that led to his ouster.
I hope that doesn’t happen with Harbaugh. At some point though, he and Michigan football have got to beat the Buckeyes. It’s the No. 1 goal of the program or at least it should be.
With Milton and talent on both sides of the ball, Michigan should be able to compete, but can they actually beat the Buckeyes? I’ll believe it when I see it.
