Michigan Football: 3 Takeaways from Wolverines latest commitments
What does this mean for Donovan Edwards?
Honestly, I don’t think the commitment of Dunlap will have any impact on the decision of Donovan Edwards.
Donovan hasn’t said he needs to be the only commit of a class, he just wants to be kept in the loop, which happened here from all indications.
And Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider ($) wrote this last night following Dunlap’s announcement: “Dunlap’s decision will not be a factor with Donovan Edwards.”
With all the work the Wolverines have done recruiting Edwards, they weren’t going to take a risk at messing that up and they didn’t with Dunlap. He’d actually be a great back to pair with Edwards.
Dunlap may not be as dynamic, but he’s powerful and he’s a decisive guy. The two of them could make a really interesting pair and from a Michigan perspective, there is now some insurance in case Edwards does choose Georgia or Oklahoma.
The Wolverines needed to get at least one running back this cycle and while Dunlap is ranked a little lower, he’s a top-10 caliber back in this recruiting class and will play as such.
