Michigan Football: 5 Thoughts on wild week of recruiting for Wolverines
Daymon David is basically an Oregon lock
Another really disappointing development this week on the recruiting trail was Daymon David starting to trend to Oregon. It now looks like a done deal.
The first expert pick came from Holland, who projected David to Michigan. The pick made sense, the coaching staff has done a great job and David seemed drawn to the NFL development within the program especially in the secondary.
But Oregon was the “dream” school and David said that when offered. Some thought distance would be a factor, but there are now seven crystal balls projecting David to U-M and two Futurecast picks from Oregon analysts at Rivals.
Holland hasn’t changed his pick and said Michigan still feels good about where it stands. But David has talked about a decision mid-September, so unless this gets delayed, the Ducks appear to have the momentum.
David hasn’t visited Michigan or Oregon and the Ducks just recently offered, yet they are going to swoop in and nab one of the fastest-risers right now in the 2021 class.
Georgia Tech commit Kaleb Edwards is someone Michigan has been in contact with, however, the Wolverines haven’t offered yet. That’s one to follow. Other than that, the safety board is thin.
