David now trending to Oregon?

Earlier this week, Michigan football seemed to be trending in the right direction with three-star safety Daymon David, who got a Futurecast pick from EJ Holland to U-M.

However, when the first crystal ball predictions dropped for David, they weren’t for the Wolverines. Instead, Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn each put in a crystal ball pick for Oregon, the school David called his “dream” school after a recent offer.

The Wolverines have impressed David with their history of turning out NFL defensive backs but even Holland posted an update ($) that makes you think U-M is going to miss out here.

"“I was very optimistic about Michigan’s chances with Daymon David. The Wolverines have gone all in on that recruitment, and I felt like things were trending the right way. Oregon, however, has become a huge threat in recent weeks.”"

Holland later noted there was some conflicting information with David. As we’ve seen things can change quickly, but EJ also said he was hearing the number of 25 recruits in this class and if you take the 21 now, plus Dunlap, Edwards, George Rooks and Rayshaun Benny, you get there.

That’s optimistic but that there is a very good chance it plays out that way. Benny and Rooks are both projected to Michigan right now too. Lorenz also noted a source ($) said Michigan was in a “good spot” with Rooks in another update this week.
