Michigan football should get some good news on the recruiting trail very soon in regards to its 2021 class.

A few recruitments have gone the other way recently for Michigan football in the 2021 class, but that should be changing with some top targets relatively soon.

The Wolverines have been making a strong push for three-star running back Tavierre Dunlap, who has narrowed his decision to Oklahoma State and Michigan.

Dunlap has been trending with crystal ball picks since the end of last week and Monday night, EJ Holland of Rivals ($) joined the party and put in a Futurecast pick projecting the RB to U-M. Here’s how he summed up his pick:

"“Michigan had another positive conversation with him, and sources close to the recruitment told me that final calls with Michigan and Oklahoma State are in the process of finishing up. I think Michigan is going to win out here, and it wouldn’t be surprising if things happen soon.”"

Last week, there was talk that Dunlap could commit within a week or so and it feels like that timeline was accurate. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t part of the 2021 class by the end of the week.

Another recruit that could join Dunlap in the 2021 class soon is three-star safety Daymon David. David has been rising up the boards and jumped from outside the top 1,000 in the 247 composite rankings to 346th. Part of that was moving up to a four-star recruit in the Rivals rankings.

Well on another tidbit dropped Monday, Holland said he placed a Futurecast too for the safety, which confirms that Michigan is in a really good spot, even with Oregon pushing hard. Here’s what Holland wrote ($):

"“I love where the Wolverines are trending here based on sources close to his recruitment. There also seems to be optimism around Ann Arbor. Oregon is still a factor, but there is more familiarity with Michigan, and I’m told DB development is something that’s helping U-M.”"

In my revised prediction for Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class, I predicted that David would land with the Wolverines and I feel even better about that now.

David always seemed drawn to a bigger school and that’s why Michigan seemed to have the edge over Boston College. Oklahoma was in the mix, but they went with another safety.

So now, in my eyes, the choice is down to Oregon and Michigan. The Wolverines have done a good job of sending defensive backs to the NFL consistently. So you can see why that’s helping.

There was supposed to be a decision with David around mid-September and if he sticks to that, Michigan football could be adding multiple commitments soon.
