Efton Reid

247Sports Composite: 21st overall, five-star

Contenders: Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia, Georgetown, Pitt, Florida State, Louisville

Michigan’s chances: Excellent

I still believe that Efton Reid is Michigan’s best chance at a five-star in this recruiting cycle. The center position is by far Michigan’s top remaining need and Reid would be a perfect fit.

Very few recruits have kept a more quiet recruitment than Reid, so his timeline is still unknown. But all signs point to him not being close to a decision.

Michigan basketball has the edge in his recruitment because of Reid’s connection to current freshmen Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams. Those three all played on the same AAU squad a season ago.

Juwan Howard has clearly made an effort to establish a Washington D.C. pipeline by snagging Williams and Dickinson in the 2020 class, as well as recruiting Reid and Trevor Keels in the 2021 class, and being the favorite to land top-50 PG Dug McDaniel in the 2022 class.

If you are unfamiliar with the game of Reid, Jerry Meyer of 247Sports has this scouting report on him.

"Has NBA center size. Game is skill based and not athletically based. Has good footwork and touch in post. Can stretch defense to three-point line. Comfortable with the ball as a passer. Has good hands and rebounds his area. Not a big shot blocker. Positional defender inside. Needs to improve quickness to defend on perimeter."

Michigan should feel very good about their chances here. Not only would he be walking into a comfortable situation with familiar faces already on the team, but he’d also be walking into a situation that provides early playing time.

Prediction: Michigan
