Michigan football is the in the mix for a number of recruits in 2021 but who will be the next to commit to the Wolverines?

Michigan football fans are dying for some good news. Whether it’s on the recruiting trail or the Big Ten returning earlier than expected, something positive would be nice.

It’s been a rough month or so for the Michigan football faithful. Rocco Spindler and Drew Kendall, who each at one time looked like they could possibly join the 2021 class, are each headed in different directions.

Spindler announced his choice of Notre Dame on Aug. 8. We are still waiting for Kendall to make a decision, but at this point, we know it won’t be Michigan.

The Wolverines also saw their season get pushed back to the “spring” whatever that means. There had been talk of starts in January, around Thanksgiving and in October, so at this point, I’ll believe the schedule when I see it.

And since the Big Ten canceled the season shortly after releasing a new schedule with increased flexibility to deal with COVID-19, I probably won’t believe that either until we see actual football.

So, on the good news front, that pretty much leaves us with recruiting. And on that front, there should be some good news soon, the question is when?

The Wolverines started trending with crystal ball projections for Tavierre Dunlap, a three-star running back in the 2021 class on Friday.

They now own three crystal ball picks for him after Steve Lorenz joined ($) Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider and Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports in predicting Dunlap to Michigan.

It wasn’t long ago we learned that Dunlap was down to Michigan football and Oklahoma State. Even then, there were reports that Dunlap could commit soon and now that he’s trending with expert picks, he’s the most likely candidate to be the next commitment right now in 2021.

But as the Kendall recruitment reminds us, these things can be fluid, especially before a decision is made. Heck, even Xavier Worthy was trending with picks to Oregon before they all flipped.

At this point though, I am expecting a commitment from Dunlap and it could be any day, but here are some others who are also close to pulling the trigger too.
