Michigan Football: Confidence rising with 4-star RB Donovan Edwards
Things haven’t gone that well for Michigan football on the recruiting trail recently but Donovan Edwards could change that quickly.
Michigan football could use a win on the recruiting trail and no win would be bigger than landing the commitment of four-star running back Donovan Edwards.
Edwards, along with four-star defensive tackle Rayshuan Benny are the top priorities left for Michigan football in the 2021 class and with each recruit, the Wolverines are the crystal ball leader.
However, when will Edwards actually commit?
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports, a decision could come at any time, which would be good news for Michigan, because right now, the Wolverines are the clear favorite.
Edwards wanted to take all five of his official visits but the dead period is going through September and it doesn’t look like it will be lited any time soon. Oklahoma, another top contender is also trending with top running back Camar Wheaton.
The other team in the mix is Georgia, at least the other contender is Georgia. The Bulldogs appeared to be the favorite at one time, but Michigan football recovered.
Yet, the Bulldogs did offer Edwards’ teamate Dillon Tatum this week and if they can get Edwards on campus during a game this fall, who knows?
All of Edwards crystal ball picks are with Michigan and Rivals expert EJ Holland also has a Futurecast pick in for Edwards, so now, it’s just about finishing.
Drew Kendall going the wrong way
In case you hadn’t seen, things have been going the wrong direction with Michigan football target Drew Kendall and the four-star guard is now trending to Boston College.
This was definitely coming — you could see the writing on the wall, especially when Holland flipped his pick earlier this week. But now, the crystal ball flip has taken place at 247 sports too.
There is still one pick in for Michigan, but all the main experts are now projecting Kendall to Boston College. There has been talk of Stanford in the mix, but it looks like the Eagles are winning this.
It’s disappointing for Michigan football but the Wolverines did everything they could. Kendall just didn’t seem to buy into being a Big Ten offensive lineman and a quality player at U-M.
It’s weird that BC’s negative recruiting pitch worked. His dad being a former player there seemed to have sway — that and his concern about offensive line numbers at Michigan.
