Terrance Williams

Second on the list is another true freshman, Terrance Williams. Michigan is pretty deep at the wing this season.

Chaundee Brown, Franz Wagner, Isaiah Livers, and Brandon Johns can all play either wing spot so why do I expect a true freshman to make an impact there? One simple reason, shooting.

Williams is an elite shooter. If you haven’t watched him play yet, he is incredibly similar to Isaiah Livers. Both are undersized power forwards whose biggest strength is their jump shot. Williams will need some time to adjust to the college game and develop his skill set.

But if you think back to Livers when he was a true freshman, his elite shooting ability got him on the floor early in his career and I see the same type of thing happening for Williams.

He was the 92nd ranked player in last year’s recruiting class but that had more to do with his size, not his skill set. Back in February, Williams got some ridiculous praise from the father of 2020 five-star Greg Brown. He had this to say about Williams while talking to Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider:

"“I’ve been saying this since Greg was in 10th grade. If Terrance Williams was Greg’s height, Terrance Williams would be the no. 1 player in the 2020 class. Period! Hands down, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. We’ve been playing with Terrance Williams since seventh grade. He’d always been bigger than everybody, but he didn’t quite continue to grow to that 6-9/6-10 (height). Had that kid grown to a 6-9/6-10 frame, it would have been curtains. Oh my gosh… skilled, (good) around the basket, and don’t miss free throws. He’s a bad, bad dude.”"

Michigan basketball fans should be very excited about the future of Terrance Williams.
