Highly-touted defensive end Tyson Ford has been waiting for Michigan football to jump in with an offer and the Wolverines finally did.

Michigan football reached out to numerous recruits in the past few days as Sept. 1 was the first day schools were allowed to contact recruits.

Not only did Michigan touch base with recruits it was already talking to, which is allowed if the recruits make the contact, but the Wolverines have also extended a bunch of new offers.

Michigan football offered what literally seemed like a ton of offensive lineman on Tuesday. But another big offer came ($) down on Thursday and that was to four-star defensive end Tyson Ford.

Ford is ranked as the ninth-best weakside defensive end in the 2022 class and out of St. Louis, Missouri, Ford is listed at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds. Here’s what Ford told the Michigan Insider ($) about a potential offer from the Wolverines this past summer:

"“It would mean a lot. Michigan is a great program and I would love that opportunity. I do know the head coach and he’s a big-time coach. Michigan would definitely be one of the top schools on my list if they offered. Just like that.”"

Ford has a total of 16 offers after the Wolverines got in the mix Thursday. Michigan joined Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas A&M, Washington, Kansas State, Baylor, Arkansas and Arizona State.

At this point, things seem to be pretty wide open with Ford and now that Michigan football is in the mix, with Shaun Nua leading the way, this is a very winnable recruitment.

While Ford is sure to be one of the Wolverines top targets at defensive end, another top prospect to keep an eye on is Caden Curry, a defensive end/defensive tackle out of Indiana.

Ohio State and Alabama are two of the programs in the mix for the 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman who is listed as the No. 86 player overall in the 247 composite rankings.

Curry recently talked about Michigan with EJ Holland of Rivals and indicated that the Wolverines were among his top schools as this point.

“They are definitely going to be one of my top schools,” Curry said ($). “They are one of the best schools in the Big Ten. They are always contenders.”

Curry said he wants to visit Michigan but Ohio State and Alabama loom large, with the Buckeyes the likely favorite but you never know how things will play out.
