Starter: Franz Wagner

I won’t spend a ton of time on Wagner. He is the obvious pick to start at small forward this year for Michigan. I wrote about Wagner last week and how I think he is poised for a monster season this year. I also talked to current Michigan basketball GA Jaaron Simmons and he spoke very highly of Wagner and what he could do this season.

"“Franz is a competitor. He’s never going to let anyone out compete him. I feel like this season, a lot of people are going to see a new Franz. He was very good last year but this year I just know that he’s going to take it to the next level. He puts in a lot of work. He has improved, we’ve seen it in all these small group workouts that we have been able to do, and I’m excited for everyone else to see it too.”"

Franz Wagner could very well have a Big Ten Player of the Year type season if he makes the leap that he’s expected to make. I don’t think there will be a better two-way player in the conference this season.

Wagner is going to play a ton of minutes this season. But behind him, you’ll see a lot of Isaiah Livers sliding to the three spot, and you’ll even see Chaundee Brown filling in there when needed as well. True freshman Terrance Williams should see some time at both wing spots as well. We’ll have to wait and see just how ready he is to make an impact this season.
