Bonus two

When Bryce Hopkins decommitted from Lousiville, the Michigan staff began prioritizing him. A scholarship offer was extended, and Michigan became an instant contender. While UM is still in the fight, it appears that John Calipari has worked his magic and will be obtaining the commitment of one of the best four-stars from the cycle.

Hopkins is from a suburb of Chicago and attends grad transfer Mike Smith’s high school, which was thought to be significant enough connections, but again, it’s tough to compete with Kentucky – which is also where Hardy is leaning, per Rivals and 247 sports.

Who else?

The final prospect is JD Davison, a five-star point guard from Alabama. According to Rivals, Michigan is one of Davison’s dream schools, and yet the Wolverines are said to be in sixth place with him.

JD is ranked 12th overall and the No. 2 PG.

Matt’s musings

As reported exclusively by GBMWolverine, Michigan was the first Division I school to send a coach to scout Ingram at St. Marks.

“He was the first one to ever come in our gym,” Guiler said of the Wolverine’s former assistant Luke Yaklich, who’s now the head coach at UIC. “The first Division I coach I’ve had at our gym and he came in 3-4 years ago and wanted to see Harrison and one of his teammates who just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

“I kind of see Michigan as being the first to the table and, in many ways, unlocked the exposure for these guys in ways that we are eternally grateful for.”

The Wolverines are also after Harrison’s friend and teammate Colin Smith. The two have a special bond and would love to come as a package deal at the next level. Michigan is offering that deal.

Because of that, I’d place Harrison in the most likely to attend Michigan category alongside Efton Reid. Jaden Hardy, Trevor Keels, and Charles Bediako are in the might attend category with JD Davison and Bryce Hopkins in the least likely to attend category.
