What’s next for 2021?

Howard and the Michigan staff have done a great job of acquiring talent but also filling positional needs along the way and Collins was another great example of that.

Point guard was one of the big needs left in 2021 and Howard addressed it by adding Collins, who is now the top-ranked player in U-M’s class.

Now, a rim protector is needed. If you look at the roster, it’s a huge weakness and as good as Hunter Dickinson is going to be on the offensive end and as a rebounder, he’s not a shot blocker.

Brandon Johns might actually be the Wolverines best shot blocker and he’s 6-foot-8. So adding someone like five-star Efton Reid or Charles Bediako is essential. Michigan is in a good spot for both and some have even called U-M the leader with Reid.

Bediako has crystal balls projecting him to Alabama already, so Reid may be the best option.

Beyond that, the Wolverines can keep pushing for elite recruits such as Trevor Keels, Jaden Hardy, Bryce Hopkins, a Louisville de-commit recently offered, and others, such as four-star wing Brandon Weston who included Michigan in his top six this week.

There are likely 1-2 spots left in the 2021 class, which currently is fifth in the 247 sports team rankings and added Reid, plus the best player in that second group, would be a dream finish.
