Juwan keeps killing it with recruiting

When Howard was hired as Michigan basketball’s head coach, there was talk that he would do well on the recruiting trail. Well, he’s lived up to that billing and more.

Obviously, Howard hasn’t been able to land the five-star recruit yet, although he did have Isaiah Todd committed for some time, he has been able to reel in five recruits (Collins, Kobe Bufkin, Hunter Dickinson, Zeb Jackson, Terrance Williams) ranked in the top 100 of the 247 composite rankings in just the last two cycles (2019 and 2020).

According to Burkhardt of UMHoops ($), John Beilein was only able to land four top-100 players from 2013 to 2018. So that tells you something about the kind of talent Howard is getting.

Certainly, Beilein deserves a lot of credit too. Michigan basketball wouldn’t be in a position to get these players if he didn’t put the Wolverines back on the map as an elite program, not only in the Big Ten but nationally too.

Yet, Howard has been able to take that foundation and build on it even further. And in the 2021 class, the Wolverines aren’t even close to being done.
