The tough calls

One Michigan football player with a really tough decision on his hands will be linebacker Cameron McGrone, who had a breakout campaign in 2019.

After not starting the first few games, McGrone burst onto the scene and became arguably the Wolverines’ best defender, finishing with 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, five quarterback hits and a forced fumble.

With a strong season in 2020, McGrone definitely would have had NFL draft buzz and that’s why his decision will be tough. If he stays, he may have to play a spring and fall season before he could be eligible for the NFL draft.

That could help him become a first-round pick, who knows, it’s just a lot to think about and will be until the NFL offers some clarification. Others in a similar predicament are Ronnie Bell, Vincent Gray and Brad Hawkins.

Carlo Kemp is another interesting case.

Right now, he might not get drafted, but with a strong season, he could. But he wouldn’t be eligible to play in the fall.

So unless he could enter the 2021 draft or be part of a supplemental draft, he’d have to wait until 2022, nearly a year after his spring season was completed, before he could enter the draft.
