Michigan basketball target Frankie Collins is making a decision on Wednesday and he’s fully trending to the Wolverines.

Head coach Juwan Howard and Michigan basketball needed to get a point guard in the 2021 recruiting class and it appears that pledge will come Wednesday from four-star recruit Frankie Collins.

On Friday night, Collins, who received an offer from Michigan basketball a little over a week ago, said he would be making his decision on Wednesday.

And since the Wolverines made Collins top-8 list without even extending an offer, it felt like a good sign that he was deciding so soon after, and that was confirmed when the expert picks started rolling in from 247 sports and Rivals.

Shortly after Collins announced his decision date, he picked up a pair of crystal ball predictions, including one from Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider. Both picks had a confidence rating of seven on a scale of 1-10.

Then, if you check out Collins profile at Rivals, which has him ranked 69th overall and as a four-star recruit, you will also see him trending to the Wolverines as four Futurecast picks have been put in for Collins to U-M. The most notable pick is from Corey Evans.

If Collins, the No. 57 prospect in the 247 composite and ninth-ranked point guard, does wind up picking the Wolverines on Wednesday, he would be the fourth verbal commitment in the 2021 class for Juwan Howard and another consensus four-star recruit.

His presence in the 2021 class would also fill a huge need for a point guard. Michigan was able to add Kobe Bufkin, who can handle the ball, but he’s more of a combo/two-guard.

Collins is a point guard and he’s one that does really well attacking the basket and creating out of the pick-and-roll, which should make him a solid fit for Howard’s system. Eric Bossi of Rivals ($) even called Collins one of the most explosive point guards in 2021.

Collins would join Bufkin, Will Tschetter and Isaiah Barnes as members of the Wolverines 2021 class but with as many as seven scholarship openings possible, Howard and the Wolverines likely aren’t done yet and will continue pursuing five-stars.

Yet, the staff has done a great job of identifying targets at positions of need and outside of a rim protector and a five-star, which could be Efton Reid, another top target, the Wolverines are checking all the boxes in the 2021 recruiting class.
