Michigan Football: Revised game-by-game predictions for Wolverines
November
With only a loss to Ohio State at this point, Michigan football will head into the month of November with a 7-1 record and two games left.
Nov. 7 vs Maryland (W)
The last home game of the season is scheduled to take place Nov. 7 against Maryland. It will be the only home game in that month if the schedule works out as planned. Maryland, like Rutgers, is improving, but not enough to make me worry about this one. U-M rolls.
Nov. 21 at Northwestern (W)
This is the one new team that was added to the Wolverines’ 2020 schedule. Some people thought Michigan could add a game against Iowa or Nebraska, so the Wildcats may not seem that difficult, but playing in Evanston late in the season won’t be easy. It also might not happen.
The Big Ten purposely moved up division games, so if there are issues later in the year trying to play, there will be more flexibility. But say Michigan is 8-1 heading into this game and Ohio State is still undefeated.
In that scenario, this game wouldn’t mean much. OSU would have the division locked up and if a game needed to be canceled, Northwestern makes the most sense. That said, if Michigan makes the trip, it will finish off the regular season 9-1.
Should that happen, the Wolverines would be ranked somewhere in the top 10 heading into the postseason. Unless there is some sort of expanded playoff, I wouldn’t anticipate any sort of playoff berth.
Yet, if bowl games are a go, then Michigan should find itself in a New Year’s Six Game.
