Can Michigan beat Ohio State and keep MSU at bay?

Every person who is a fan of Michigan football or is associated with the program in any way, shape, or form realizes the biggest question facing the Wolverines in 2020 and going forward.

It’s a simple question really: Can Michigan beat Ohio State?

The answer the past five years has been a resounding no. Michigan had a very good chance and should have won in 2016. U-M was also right there in 2017, with the ball and a chance to take the lead with about five minutes remaining.

Even last year, if Hassan Haskins doesn’t make a wrong read on a fourth-down run, a turnover on downs, could have been a touchdown and The Game could have been different.

However, there is no arguing that Ohio State is simply ahead of Michigan. They have recruited better and there has been zero drop off from Urban Meyer to Ryan Day. Harbaugh knows his task is to conquer the Buckeyes, but will he finally achieve it?

That’s a huge question looming in 2020. But I have another and it’s can the Wolverines continue to control that state of Michigan?

When Harbaugh arrived, his first goal was winning back the state. The Spartans had taken control of the rivalry and after losing two of the first three, Harbaugh has won two straight and Michigan is clearly back on top.

Yet, the Spartans have a new head coach in Mel Tucker and while closing the gap with Ohio State is vital, keeping the gap between Michigan State and Michigan is just as important, meaning the game in East Lansing, is probably second-most important on the entire schedule. It’s a must-win.
