Michigan Basketball: Who’s left on Wolverines 2021 prospect board?
Perimeter players still on the board
Michigan might not be the current team to beat for the previously mentioned floor generals, but the board still has an interested parties for the position.
4-STAR PG Frankie Collins
Brizzi is a great player, but he is a three-star and ranked significantly lower than Michigan basketball’s other recruit at PG, Frankie Collins. Frankie has a flashy and yet efficient game that’s led him to many victories on the court. He’s is in the top 60 and if he wasn’t the top priority before, he should be now, or at least, Collins should be treated as though he is the top target.
4-STAR PG Jaden Akins
Everyone and their mother thinks Jaden Akins is a MSU lock, and while that might be the case, Michigan doesn’t seem to be letting up. Akins dropped top six schools, and Michigan made it along with MSU. The issue is Akins will be playing with Emoni Bates, a 2022 MSU commit, at Ypsi prep next season. MSU, not Michigan, has an inside man and, therefore, have the advantage.
5-STAR SF Harrison Ingram
Stanford is reportedly the leader here, or Purdue, although it’s still early, and Harrison Ingram doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to commit anytime soon. Harrison is looking for more than basketball, which has been a selling point for Michigan, along with U-M’s pursuit of his teammate Colin Smith (four star/2022), but the Wolverines are still lingering somewhere behind the Cards and the Boilermakers.
5-STAR SF Peyton Watson
Peyton Watson is this freak athlete that can only be described as a tweener. If not deployed as a wing at the next level, he could be molded into a shooting guard with a little bit of added strength and a concentration on his perimeter game, or he could be moved to power forward if the weight gain camp is extreme. Watson is thin and yet still a top ten athlete, and while he’s one of the best in his class, Michigan seems to be trailing off in his recruitment.
5-STAR SF Trevor Keels
Team Takeover had one of the most talented rosters in the world, and that’s partially due to Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams but also Trevor Keels, who is a phenom for the squad. Trevor’s in the same category as Ingram, not in playing style, but with how uncertain who’s goes where in his top list of schools.
