Michigan Football: Elite 2022 corner projected to Wolverines
Michigan football picked up a new crystal ball Thursday and it’s for elite corner Jaeden Gould of the 2022 recruiting class.
If you’ve been paying attention, then you know that Michigan football is off to a pretty good start when it comes to the 2022 recruiting class and it continues with a crystal ball projection for one of the Wolverines top targets in that cycle.
During the Jim Harbaugh era, Michigan football has done exceptionally well recruiting in the Northeast. New Jersey has been a hotbed for the Wolverines along with other parts of the region and in particular, Bergen Catholic has been a nice pipeline to tap into.
The Wolverines don’t have the same connection to the school that they did with Anthony Campanile on the staff, but that hasn’t stopped them for forging a strong relationship with four-star corner Jaeden Gould, who is ranked 97th overall in the 247 composite rankings for 2022.

Gould told Brice Marich of the Michigan Insider ($) in a recent interview that he talks frequently with cornerbacks coach Mike Zordich. Gould also said he wanted to visit Ann Arbor again, which would be the fourth time.
"“Michigan, I would say, I’ve been in contact with the most,” Gould said. “I’ve been there three times since they offered me. There’s just something special about that place. I wish I could go back every single weekend if I could.”"
Soon after posting that interview, Marich placed a crystal ball ($) for the Wolverines, projecting Gould into their 2022 class. The 6-foot-2 defensive back has been a priority for a while now and this signals what some might have already expected, which is that U-M is in the lead.
Jordan Morant is a former teammate of Gould’s and he signed with Michigan in the 2020 class, so there is still familiarity there.
Rutgers has obviously been working hard to try and keep Gould in the state of New Jersey. Head coach Greg Schiano has already had some success on the recruiting trail with the Scarlet Knights in 2021 and he recently added former Michigan signee Aaron Lewis in the transfer portal.
Rutgers has the No. 28 class overall according to 247, meaning this isn’t the Rutgers of the past few years. USC is another program in the mix, however, it’s clear that Michigan is in a really strong position and you can see from Gould’s excitement why Marich felt comfortable making a pick.
