3-star wide receiver Markus Allen (No. 547, 247 composite)

When Michigan football was at its best, the Wolverines were getting really good players out of Ohio and while this class has only two, both of them are good, starting with Markus Allen.

Allen is ranked as just a three-star recruit. In the 247 composite, he’s in the top 600 but the internal 247 rankings have him at 770 and 119th among wide receivers.

His ranking has improved since Michigan and others schools started recruiting him. What really won him over was the way Josh Gattis recruited him. Even when he wasn’t ranked very high, Gattis pursued him hard and it paid off.

Allen is already 6-foot-2 and over 200 pounds according to EJ Holland ($) who visited him recently. He’s also only 16 years old right now.

Like Giles Jackson, he will play as a freshman just at 17 year old. He needs to improve his routes a bit, but he’s tremendous in traffic and has a knack for coming up with contested catches. My player comparison is former NFL wideout James Jones. Allen has strong hands.

When he gets to Michigan, fans will wonder why he was a three star?
