4-star DE Kechaun Bennett (No. 331, 247 sports composite)

When it comes to the Northeast, Michigan football is able to get most of the recruits they prioritize in that region. Don Brown helps but even Jim Harbaugh has ties to that area.

Yet, it’s still a part of the country that doesn’t produce as much high-level talent as others and that makes evaluations even more important. Even if a player is really good, it can be hard for them to get very high in the rankings due to a lack of elite competition to verify the production against.

That probably didn’t help four-star defensive end Kechaun Bennett, a Michigan commit who is 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and looked like a man amongst boys in his highlights.

Like Kwity Paye, who was a three-star prospect out of Rhode Island, Bennett has dominated the competition at the high school level. And maybe, who knows, down the line, he could end up being the best pass rusher out of this group.

He’s raw but talented in a couple of years, I’d expect him to be making an impact, especially on third downs.
