Michigan football is getting closer to winning the commitment of Drew Kendall, plus other recruiting notes for the 2021 class.

In terms of the 2021 Michigan football recruiting class, there’s not a ton to report from over the weekend. It is the dead period after all and the number of targets is shrinking too.

In fact, the board shrunk down even further this weekend when four-star target Prophet Brown committed to USC. The Wolverines were after Brown as a running back but others recruited him as a corner. Either way, he committed to the Trojans, so that’s another one off the board.

Yet, another recruit could be coming off the board soon and in a positive way for Michigan football and that’s four-star offensive lineman Drew Kendall.

Kendall is one of the recruits we’ve talked about most and over the last two months or so, he’s become a heavy Michigan lean. All of his crystal ball predictions at 247 sports and Futurecast picks from Rivals have him going to Michigan.

And according to EJ Holland of Rivals ($), the staff feels that Kendall is “close” to pulling the trigger on a commitment. He reported that if Kendall is able to get into the business school at Michigan, the Massachusetts four-star recruit will likely join the Wolverines.

Holland went so far as to say business school was more important than offensive line numbers, meaning Rocco Spindler’s possible commitment may not matter as some thought.

Michigan a favorite with four-star receiver Jayden Thomas?

Last Friday, Jayden Thomas, a four-star wide receiver from Georgia, released his top five and Michigan football made it as expected.

Thomas is 6-foot-1, 198 pounds and is ranked as the No. 218 player overall in the 247 sports composite rankings. While the Wolverines already have three receivers committed, Thomas would be another big body on the outside and Michigan has been pushing hard with him for months.

Michigan has also been talking to him about possibly playing football and baseball and according to Holland ($), the baseball coaches have been very involved with Thomas. Notre Dame, Georgia and Arkansas appear to be the biggest threats but there is a long way to go.

Thomas has talked about making a decision closer to signing day and as of now, he doesn’t have any crystal balls or Futurecast picks. It’s open and unless Georgia makes him a priority, Michigan should have as good a shot as anyone, as long as it wants to take four wideouts in 2021.
