Michigan basketball got some big news Friday as Isaiah Livers announced he was returning for his senior season and here are three takeaways.

The Michigan basketball program made some significant moves this offseason, particularly landing transfers Mike Smith and Chaundee Brown.

But the most important roster move for Michigan basketball was always about Isaiah Livers, well and Franz Wagner. Wagner announced his decision to return soon after the season was over and on Friday, after declaring for the NBA draft, Livers withdrew his name, meaning he’s back for 2020.

Livers posted this on his Twitter account Friday making the announcement known.

For Livers, there certainly is some unfinished business. Last season, the Wolverines didn’t get to play in the NCAA tournament after it was canceled and that could be a motivation. He did say after the season he thought Michigan basketball could have won the Big Ten tournament or even made a run at the national title.

When Livers was healthy last season, Michigan played as well as just about anyone in the Big Ten and with him back in the fold, the Wolverines figure to be contenders again next season.

Livers and Wagner give Michigan two players who could easily win Big Ten Player of the Year honors and get drafted into the NBA in 2021. That’s a very good place to start with this roster and for more on the return of Livers, here are three takeaways on the decision.
