Passing leaders

One position that’s likely to be hurt by a 10-game schedule is quarterback, since the Wolverines now won’t have non-conference games to warm up for the Big Ten and to really determine who the quarterback will be for 2020.

Since Dylan McCaffrey has more experience and is probably a little more polished, I believe he will open as the starter. But as I have said before, Michigan football will play two quarterbacks, especially early in the season until one emerges.

Eventually, that will be Joe Milton. He has an elite arm and with more polish, his potential is through the roof. Ultimately, I see him leading the Wolverines in passing yards and touchdown passes, although McCaffrey will still be part of the offense.

McCaffrey is a better runner and with his ability to throw, he offers unique challenges for defenses. Michigan will find a way to utilize him along with Milton, but Joe will be the top stat guy at quarterback, even though it will be closer in a limited season with two guys taking snaps.
