Michigan Football: 3 Possibilities for a 10-game only Big Ten schedule
A 2nd Ohio State or Michigan State matchup
One thing to consider if the Big Ten does add a 10th game in a conference only schedule is that teams would likely want it to be evenly split among home and away games. I highly doubt Michigan, which already has five conference road games, along with half the conference, would be alright adding a sixth road game.
So, if the league just adds a 10th onto the current schedule, one possibility would be adding an game within the division and for Michigan, two opponents who make a lot of sense are Michigan State and Ohio State.
It would be fun to see a two-game series with either team, but it fits in other ways too. Ohio State and Michigan State both are scheduled for five conference home games and already host Michigan.
That means if Ohio State or Michigan State played a second game against the Wolverines at the Big House, it would give OSU/MSU an even split of home/away games and would do the same for Michigan.
And say what you will about Michigan, fans watch their games and if the Big Ten could have two games played twice during the season, Michigan-Ohio State and Michigan-Michigan State would be strong contenders for No. 1 and No. 2, simply based on TV ratings.
One team gets a shot at a sweep, another gets a second bite at the apple.
