Tschetter fills a need in multiple ways

One thing Michigan needed entering this recruiting cycle was shooting. Imagine Franz Wagner and Chaundee Brown each leave after this next season. Those could be the Wolverines top scorers, along with Isaiah Livers, the best 3-point shooter last season, and Mike Smith, as well as Eli Brooks.

Now, Terrance Williams and Zeb Jackson are both talented shooters, as is Adrien Nunez. Also, we can’t forget about Brandon Johns who should fill in quite well for Livers whenever he leaves the program. But beyond that, the Wolverines are going to need shooter and Tschetter fits the bill.

Not only can he shoot from deep and excel as a stretch four or even a stretch five if he grows a bit, he can also score in the post. As Burkhardt noted, “he’s a face-up four” meaning defenders have to respect his jump shot, which allows him to get to the basket.

He also has an underrated game in the low post and some stellar moves inside, albeit against weaker competition than the shoe circuits. There will be an adjustment for Tschetter but give him a year to sit behind Johns and get stronger and Michigan could really have something. The ceiling with the 6-foot-8 forward is high and the floor, thanks in large part to his size and shooting, is low.
