Michigan Basketball: Way-too-early 2021 depth chart prediction
Starter: Brandon Johns Jr
Backup: Will Tschetter
Brandon Johns Jr could be Michigan’s best player in 2020, if Livers continues on his journey to the NBA. Johns showed flashes of greatness, and has the intangibles to be the go-to guy; he just has to put it all together on a consistent basis.
Coming out of East Lansing High School, Brandon highly coveted and was ranked 70th for his class and No. 2 in-state. If he can stop looking over his shoulder, Brandon can be Michigan basketball’s next superstar.
The next man on the chart is the Wolverines newest commit, Will Tschetter. Will is as underrated as they come, and if you’re looking for a comparison on the current roster, look at Johns again.
Tschetter will fill the play the pick-and-pop role as he is almost automatic from beyond the arc. Otherwise, watch for Tschetter to wait in the corner, anticipating the defense collapsing on whoever drives the lane, waiting for the kick out. When others shoot, Tschetter is a weapon on the boards and can get it out to the guards even with double and triple teams.
Tschetter will take over in year two as the starter and hold the position for his final three years in Ann Arbor, barring some unforeseen circumstance where a five-star PF joins the squad somewhere down the line.
