Replacing Hudson after three years

The position of Viper was created back in 2016 for Jabrill Peppers and after that, Khaleke Hudson stepped in as a three-year starter. During that time, he accumulated 22 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, 14 pass breakups and 217 tackles.

In short, Hudson was a highly productive player for Michigan football and after getting selected by the Washington Redskins, there are some very big shoes to fill.

And it sounds like former three-star recruit Michael Barrett is going to be the first man to get the chance to take over. Anthony Solomon is another candidate but he will be a redshirt freshmen, while Barrett, a former high school quarterback, is going to be a redshirt sophomore.

Barrett is 6-foot and 227 pounds. He’s also very athletic and was playing running back before. It’s going to be exciting to see what he can do, but if the defense is going to be as good as it was a year ago or even improve, he will have to be a catalyst.
