Here are three things to expect in Juwan Howard’s second year leading Michigan basketball as he transitions the Wolverines closer to his grand design.

There’s not a lot to complain about when discussing Michigan basketball, even though three of the starters were lost prior to the season and the head coach left in the off-season. Juwan worked with the talented holdovers and implemented a new style of play that best suited the personnel on hand.

Even the fans seem satisfied, at least in a poll I conducted on social media. I asked “What are your thoughts on Juwan Howard after a short season and a taste of recruiting? Give me a rating 1-10, 10 being the best, and why.”

The average out of the responses was a 7.8. I guess defeating Michigan State in your first year in the Big Ten really helps out your score.

His score could have been improved slightly had the hangover from the Bahamas not lasted as long as it did, or if Isaiah Livers never got injured, or if Franz Wagner thrived all season instead of busting out on the back end, or if the season had lasted as long as it was scheduled to, or if….

‘If’ doesn’t matter at this point. The future is where we’re looking and the future is bright for the Michigan Wolverines. Juwan might have lost out on a pair of five-stars, but the 2020 class is still ranked within the top 15 and three transfers have pledged to play for U-M. We don’t know if Chaundee Brown or Nojel Eastern will be eligible, but even without them, Michigan has a solid cast of characters for the 2020-21 season.

Let’s take a look at next year with three expectations for Michigan basketball.
