Quincy Allen

Should Howard and company land Washington, DC’s Quincy Allen, they would be in tremendous shape on the offensive side of the ball. Quincy has one of the smoothest shots for his class, and the scoring wing is as interested in the Wolverines, and the staff is about him.

“I was actually on the phone with Juwan Howard last week. Phil Martelli has already been down to see me two or three times for my fall open gyms,” Allen told Yahoo Sports. “He has just been on me a lot and they just really like me. I like them a lot. I like their style of play and they get up-and-down a lot. They play hard defensively and are really defensive-oriented. Their offense kind of really fits my style of play, too.”

Quincy spoke about six schools during that interview, and then when asked about what schools he’d like to visit, only four made the list of the “couple that stick out right now,” and UM was one of them.

Ranked 45th nationally for his class, Allen also holds four stars from 247 sports, and he’s ninth at SF.

Here’s the evaluation from 247 sports Jerry Meyer:

"Great length for a scoring wing. A smooth athlete with body control and a finesse game. Not a powerful, explosive athlete. Tremendous shooter, especially off the catch from deep. Can score off dribble in midrange. Adequate handler and does see the court as a passer. Holds his own on the boards. Defense needs improvement."

ESPN has Quincy at 48th nationally, 11th at small forward, with four stars. Rivals dropped Allen to 54th overall, but they have him 10th at his position.

Regardless of exactly where Quincy stands in his class, it’s clear he’s one of the best, and U-M is doing everything they can to snag one of the best from the capital region. Those efforts are being aided by relationships formed over a much more extended period than the Wolverines’ recent communications with Allen.

Quincy is well aware of the talent at Michigan, especially from the incoming class. His connections to Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams were formed during their time at Team Takeover, which will play a vital role in the hunt for Allen.
