10. player. 485. . . . Zavier Simpson

Zavier Simpson has, unfortunately, received some of the same treatment as Michigan football’s Shea Patterson.

Patterson displayed some accuracy issues that have led to a minority of the fanbase forgetting about the accomplishments that made him one of the better QBs in recent history.

Simpson was destroyed on social media for his lack of scoring ability from anywhere that isn’t considered a layup or chip shot.

Zavier did hit the auto-correct, somewhat, during his final campaign where he was stroking them from three at 36 percent, and his leadership and selflessness certainly bump him up into the top-10 GOATs.

Since NBA statistics are unavailable at this time, let’s take a look at what the experts are saying about Simpson’s potential as a draft candidate:

“It seemed like (coach) Juwan (Howard) gave them a little bit more freedom as guards more so than what (former coach John) Beilein was running, so I think you saw how good of a passer Simpson is,” Sports Illustrated NBA Draft expert Jeremy Woo said. “I don’t think anyone questions his toughness, his leadership. Obviously, he’s extremely competitive. … He’s going to have to hit open shots. He’s not super dynamic scoring off the dribble. You know what he is now.”

And here’s ESPN analyst Jay Bilas:

“Zavier can come in and run a team,” Bilas said. “I think he’s a good defender and a very good pick-and-roll guard. I think he’s going to have to improve as a shooter to stick.”

Here is where Zavier’s name is listed in the record book:

7th total assists (431)

2nd assists in a season (244)

Tied for 4th assists-per-game (6.59)

10-plus assists in a season club

Career double-double club

Career triple-double club

And in 42 other locations.

Goat No. 10.
