Michigan football has been building momentum with its 2021 recruiting class in recent weeks and the Wolverines are now trending with a top wide receiver.

While the Michigan football program still has plenty of work to do on the 2021 recruiting class, the Wolverines may be closing in on another commitment, this time with four-star wide receiver Christian Dixon, one of the top players in the state of California.

Dixon is the 15th-best player in his home state, as well as the No. 29 wide receiver in the 2021 class and the 168th player overall. He’s 6-foot-2 and after putting Michigan football among his final eight not long ago, the Wolverines now appear to be the firm leader.

It seemed like things were going well for Michigan and the Wolverines seemed to be a true contender, but Sunday, Greg Biggins, one of 247 sports top recruiting experts on the west coast, dropped a crystal ball for Dixon to Michigan. Then it was followed by Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider and others.

The Wolverines now own 83 percent of Dixon’s crystal ball projections, with Notre Dame currently owning the other crystal ball. Yet, that was over a year ago. The other five are all going to Michigan football.

The predictions of Biggins and Webb are particularly noteworthy. Webb is a trusted source for the Wolverines and he’s generally conservative with his picks. He won’t make it unless he believes it. Biggins also knows the west really well, so I’d feel good about Dixon to U-M.

But what does that mean?

Well, it means that the Wolverines would be getting another physical, dynamic receiver. Dixon isn’t necessarily a burner, but he does a tremendous job going across the middle of the field. He runs great routes and has tremendous body control.

Michigan has been looking to add some bigger wide receivers this cycle and the Wolverines have done that already with three-star Markus Allen, who like Dixon, stands 6-foot-2. But Dixon would be another tremendous weapon and would give U-M a second receiver in the 2021 class to pair with five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy and hopefully, four-star running back Donovan Edwards.

Dixon has a ton of potential and of all the receivers Michigan has landed the past two years, he could be among the most complete.
