Michigan basketball has gotten in on two new transfers in the past week and here are three thoughts about the Wolverines latest pursuits.

Following Cole Bajema’s decision to enter the transfer portal, you figured that Juwan Howard and Michigan basketball would be looking to the very same portal to find some help.

With the loss of Bajema, Michigan basketball suddenly had two open scholarships and with a bunch of seniors on this year’s roster, Michigan could be looking at a big recruiting class next year.

That isn’t all bad. Howard put together a very good class in 2020, with three top-100 players, who should be multi-year guys for the Wolverines. Hunter Dickinson, Terrance Williams and Zeb Jackson should each be core pieces for a few years, while Jace Howard has potential.

But the loss of Bajema could leave Michigan very thin when it comes to 3-point shooters, especially if Isaiah Livers doesn’t return and keeps his name in the NBA draft. That’s a decision he hasn’t made yet, but it’s probably the most significant in terms of success next season.

On the other hand, Michigan did crack the top five for DePaul guard and former four-star recruit Jalen Coleman-Lands, who averaged 11.1 points per game last season for the Blue Devils. He once played at Illinois and is a high-volume 3-point shooter.

That’s one new player who was offered by Howard and another is Chaundee Brown, a player who is transferring from Wake Forest. This is according to UMHoops ($), which also reported that Brown revised his top-five list to include the Wolverines. Others under consideration are Illinois, Gonzaga, LSU and Iowa State.

Both Coleman-Lands and Brown can be valuable in different ways and here are three thoughts on their potential additions.
