S Jordan Morant

One position where there should be plenty of competition, especially for the backup spots on the two deep is at safety. Right now, it’s clear that Daxton Hill and Brad Hawkins will be the starters, but after that, it’s pretty wide open, especially with a slew of four-star freshmen incoming.

Makari Paige is one of those guys, along with Jordan Morant and RJ Moten. But of those three, Morant is the guy that appears most ready to play. He’s a little slow on the backend with a 4.6 or 4.7 40 time but he’s a physical player and he’s already built to play in the Big Ten.

He’s also a versatile kid and him bumping down to be a Viper wouldn’t be shocking, but you can see that possibility with Paige and William Mohan, another freshman, too.

By the end of the year, there is a good chance that Morant is the third safety. He is similar to Hawkins in that he is very tough in the box. So if there’s an injury, he could get some playing time and I’d expect him on special teams early in his career too.
