Michigan Football: 5 Wolverines with first-round NFL draft potential
Michigan football just had 10 players drafted in the 2020 NFL draft and here are five Wolverines who could get selected in the first round eventually.
The Michigan football program may not have had as many first-round picks as Ohio State, Alabama or LSU, but the Wolverines had 10 players selected in the 2020 NFL draft and a current look at the roster means more draft picks are on the horizon.
As much as people want to criticize Jim Harbaugh, he has done a good job of producing NFL talent and he’s done it with five-stars and four-stars, as well as three-stars and walk-ons.
Since the 2017 NFL draft, Michigan’s record has been rather impressive. According to Scott Bell’s state of the program, the Wolverines rank 4th in college football in the last four years in overall draft picks with 28, trailing only LSU, Bama and Ohio State.
I’d say that’s pretty good company to be in. Michigan has also turned out a slew of first-round picks under Harbaugh too, starting with Taco Charlton and Jabrill Peppers back in 2017, along with Devin Bush Jr., Rashan Gary and now Cesar Ruiz.
And while the Wolverines talent level may not be on par with the Buckeyes right now (who is in the Big Ten?), there is no denying that among midwestern programs, Michigan football does as good a job as anyone else of churning out NFL talent.
Looking at the 2020 Wolverines, some players are already getting NFL buzz and whether it’s this draft or the next one, here are five Michigan players most likely to go in the first round.
