Michigan Football: Expert projects 4-star LB to Wolverines for 2021
Recruiting experts aren’t always right, but when it comes to Michigan football, Sam Webb is usually on point and he’s predicting an LB to the Wolverines.
Michigan football‘s recruiting has been fluid at linebacker and that continues to be the case. Jamari Buddin has been a key target for the Wolverines but his recruitment is picking up and the Wolverines no longer feel like the favorite to land him.
Obviously, Michigan football still has a strong interest in Buddin, who said recently he would be committing soon, but it’s looking like the Wolverines are exploring other options too and recruiting expert Sam Webb just put a recent crystal ball prediction for four-star Jaydon Hood.
While 247 sports may rank Hood as just a three-star linebacker and the No. 17 inside linebacker prospect in the 2021 class, according to the 247 sports composite rankings, he’s ranked 293rd in the class overall and 12th among inside linebackers.

Hood is 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds and he would seem to fit one of the two inside linebacker positions really well with Michigan football. According to 247 sports ($), the Wolverines compared Hood to Devin Bush Jr., another Florida linebacker who excelled with the Wolverines under Don Brown.
The crystal ball for Hood comes on the heels of Michigan also getting a projection for three-star outside linebacker Tyler McLaurin. McLaurin and Hood would be a nice haul, especially if the Wolverines were also able to land highly-touted four-star Junior Colson, who seems like an ideal fit for the Viper role.
Casey Phinney is another inside linebacker who has already committed to Michigan in the 2021 cycle, so there aren’t going to be a ton of spots available. Four seems like a solid number and with it seeming less and less likely that Buddin will be part of this class, the addition of Hood would be huge.
Much like Bush at Michigan, Hood lives in the opponents backfield and according to this 247 sports profile, he already has 27 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and three forced fumbles in his high school career.
Hood also has offers from Miami, Alabama, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Louisville, among others and those are just some of the recent ones. He’s a talented kid and it’d be fun to see what he could develop into in Ann Arbor.
