Michigan Football: Wolverines target David Davidkov trending with Iowa
Michigan football was the long-time leader for David Davidkov but Iowa has been coming on strong lately and the Hawkeyes are on a run of crystal balls.
Michigan football has been putting together a really strong offensive line in the recruiting class of 2021 and while Ed Warriner and the Wolverines are still in a good position, it looks like one four-star target is headed to Iowa.
That target is David Davidkov, who is the No. 2 player out of the state of Illinois and a top-200 tackle. He’s ranked 18th among tackles overall and until recently, Michigan football held 100 percent of his crystal ball projections.
But that has all changed in the past two days. Steve Wilftong, one of the top recruiting experts for 247 sports placed a crystal ball for the Hawkeyes Sunday and then four others joined him in doing so this morning, projecting Davidkov to Iowa instead of Michigan. Iowa now has 57 percent of the crystal balls ($), while Michigan has fallen to 43 percent.

The Wolverines already have Giovanni El-Hadi committed for 2021 and he’s a top-100 tackle but it seems like U-M has been geared towards taking two tackles and if Davidkov is going to Iowa, it narrows the options.
Michigan has obviously been in on the recruitment of four-star Garrett Dellinger, one of the top players in the state of Michigan. Yet, the Wolverines haven’t gotten much traction with him and while they are still in the mix, Dellinger appears headed to LSU, although things can change.
Another tackle prospect to keep an eye on is three-star Tristan Bounds. Michigan football has been actively in contact with him and is battling teams like Boston College and Virginia Tech for his commitment.
Bounds is one of the top players in the state of Connecticut and even though he’s the 69th-rated tackle in the 247 composite rankings, in the 247 specific rankings, he’s 39th among tackles. He doesn’t have any crystal ball projections right now.
Of course, Rocco Spindler is the key recruit to watch with Michigan football on the offensive line right now and the four-star guard is getting plenty of attention from the Wolverines too.
But if Davidkov does go to Iowa, it will be interesting to see which tackle prospect is prioritized next, although it seems like Bounds could be it.
