Michigan Football: 5 Takeaways from the 2020 NFL draft
Program is in good standing
Obviously, Michigan has underachieved during Harbaugh’s tenure. I don’t think even Jim would deny that things haven’t gone quite as expected.
Harbaugh had to believe he would have won a Big Ten title by now or at least would have a win over Ohio State. But when you look at all these guys getting drafted and look ahead to 2021, which could have Mayfield, Aidan Hutchinson, Nico Collins and Cameron McGrone getting picked fairly early, along with maybe even Ambry Thomas.
Ronnie Bell is another guy who seems headed to the NFL at some point, along with Hassan Haskins and Zach Charbonnet. Daxton Hill is going to be an NFL player too.
I get that draft picks don’t mean anything in terms of actually winning games. But it does help on the recruiting trail and Michigan is once again putting together a top class in recruiting for 2021, which also includes the No. 2 quarterback in the country in J.J. McCarthy.
We all know Harbaugh and the Wolverines need to beat Ohio State soon to show progress but this program is in a good place and the 2020 draft was a reminder of that.
